Dark Without You by Sue Lyndon

Excerpt

Picture
He folded his arms across his broad chest and shook his head. “No. You’ll sleep naked.” He pointed toward the bed, which was in a state of complete disarray.

“I don’t think so,” she said haughtily. She scowled at him, trying to rub the lingering sting out of her bottom.

Andy glared back darkly, unyielding. It was a side of him she’d seen glimpses of in the past. This was the Andy who’d dragged her out of parties after she’d had too many drinks. This was the Andy who’d chewed her out for meeting a guy from the Internet for a blind date during her freshman year of college. There were other instances as well, many of them more subtle. Most of the time Andy had been more of a big brother than Rich had. But now circumstances had changed, and Alice wasn’t sure how she felt because her head was still swimming in endless circles.

“Get into the bed now, Alice,” he said with a growl, his steel-hard eyes just daring her to disobey.

It's an emotional ride to say the least, for naive Alice to follow the band. She has always wanted Andy and now here is her chance. She is drawn to the way he commands her body. But does it all have to end when the tour ends? Her drunken brother thinks he is helping but really adds conflict to the story.

Sue Lyndon offers a brooding dominant hero and a not so submissive little Alice wrapped up with just enough spankings and and hot sex to make you sigh. I'll be sure to see what else Sue has to offer now that I know how talented she is.

I don't read too many "domestic discipline" stories but this author has written one I actually enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy BDSM themed stories but I like them more when it's "in the bedroom" or at a club for sex play and less when it's a control thing throughout the entire relationship. Dark Without You was well written with characters I liked and the domestic discipline was not too over-the-top. Andy Steel was tired of the groupies hanging around the band during the tour and this was brought home when he was robbed and dumped by one he was with. Enter Alice Groves, who's had a crush on Andy and vice versa and now she has the chance to be with him for several weeks at the request of her brother, Rich, Andy's band manager. I really enjoyed their friendship and the level of trust they had in one another in order to embark in this unique relationship. I liked that Alice was a strong heroine and was not afraid to speak her mind before submitting to Andy. Andy treated Alice with great care and made sure she was ok with what was happening. You could sense a loneliness and vulnerability within him when she was not around. Another great story about friendship, trust and hot sex.
