Blythe Townsend is a belle who is in desperate need of having her chimes rung. But the man she is dating would have to get his head out of his briefs - his legal briefs - long enough to notice. She is a frustrated romantic obsessed with Turner Classic Movies. She lives in the French Quarter with her dog, Lady Marmalade, and is determined not to go sour on love even though she has dated every nutcase along the Mississippi Delta. Now, she is trying her best to make it work with her deadly dull boyfriend. Blythe accepts him - boring business dinners and all. There's always steak, but never any sizzle. There's only so much a libido can take; and when she repeatedly spots a man around town she christens Tall, Dark and Eye Candy, she starts to feel what she's been missing. So, what's stopping her from tasting something a little... sweeter? She refuses to be hurt again, and this sexy New Orleans guy has all of the trappings to do just that. Blythe will have to find her inner big-shouldered broad to deal with the craziness in her life; and she has a group of hilarious, mouthy women helping her sort through the crazy. Their story is a sultry dance to Delta blues and soulful jazz that drifts the reader into the romance of New Orleans. So, sit down at the kitchen table and pour yourself a drink - we're gonna pass the hot stuff.

What could be more fun than Terri L Austin's Diners, Dives, and Dead Ends? Why, Last Diner Standing of course!

The second in the Rose Strickland Mystery series (Diners, Dives was the first), Last Diner Standing does not disappoint.

Perhaps I am biased because I love the humour-mystery genre; but I don't think so. The writing is excellent. The characters are wonderfully expressed, quirky, vile, adorable, or delicious as necessary.

Give a listen. I can't wait for Ms Austin to write another book if only to have her back.

REVIEW to FOLLOW but I can tell you now Last Diner Standing is 5 out of 5 stars.

About the Book
Rose Strickland is having a very blue Christmas.  Her friend, Janelle, is arrested for attempted murder, her sexy bad guy crush, Sullivan, is marked by a hit man, and her boss, Ma, is locked in an epic smackdown with a rival diner.  Determined to save those she loves, Rose embarks on another investigation, and this one is more tangled than a box of last year’s tree lights.  With her eclectic gang at the ready, Rose stumbles across dead bodies, ex-cons, chop shops, jealous girlfriends, jilted lovers, and a gaggle of strippers in a battle for freedom she might not survive.

My guest this week on Sophie Says is AS Fenichel, author of the Mayan Destiny Series (Ellora's Cave), as well as the Regency romance Christmas Bliss.

Click here for a review of Christmas Bliss.

A bit about Christmas Bliss:

Blush sensuality level: This is a sweet romance (kisses only, no sexual content).

Emma is running from a tyrannous uncle bent on killing her young brother, just to gain his fortune. John, the Earl of Compton, is looking for something to change his unfulfilling life. When they meet on a dark street, nothing can change their fate.

John is so instantly smitten and socially inept, he proposes in less than twenty-four hours. Emma’s plight to save her brother has her so shaken, she agrees to the hasty Christmas wedding.

The threats to Emma’s life, and John’s fierce defense of her, demonstrate to both that the match might be more than just a convenient arrangement. If only they can thwart her uncle’s devious assault and live to enjoy each other.

Join me on Sophie Says for an interview with debut author Tanjlisa Marie, discussing her YA novel Codename Fairy Godmother: Reassigned.

BE GENTLE: This is my FIRST podcast.
Strange technical anomalies are all MY fault (Sophie, that is).

What do you get when you splice Tomb Raider’s Laura Croft with Tinker Bell? Meet Agent Thunder, a kick-butt Huntress with the Fairy Godmother Organization (FGO). Find out what happens when the FGO’s #1 bounty hunter encounters Earth’s most infamous villain and gets Reassigned for her own protection.

While in her fairy godmother protection program, Agent Thunder is eventually tracked down by Ciaran, the alluring terminator-leprechaun that she went into hiding to evade in the first place. Ciaran, a seasoned seducer, gains the fairy godmother’s trust and introduces her to experiences she’s never fathomed.  He doesn’t appear to be as menacing as Agent Thunder was led to believe . . . or so she thought.

If you like conspiracies, chicks that kick butt, conflicted villains, arbitrary fight scenes, nude fairy godmothers, terminator-leprechauns, pixies, or hot and heavy petting, then this book is for you.
